Zakiya Lathan is a freelance writer who is fascinated by technology, gadgets and the online environment. Prior to her freelance career, she worked in broadcast news as a web producer and online journalist for CBS affiliate KTVA-TV in Anchorage, Alaska. She also produced newscasts for the Anchorage, Alaska FOX affiliate KTBY-TV.

Prior to her work in broadcast journalism, she served as editorial director for two special publications for Anchorage Publishing: Cuisine Scene and Guide to Ride. She also wrote articles for the Anchorage Press Newspaper in Anchorage, Alaska.

Zakiya holds a B.A. in English, with an emphasis in writing, from Lake Forest College in Lake Forest, Illinois.
